Y.  O. L. O (You Only Live Once) By: Jenn   In this day and age when we began to hardly understand what is happening in the world (Pandemic, mental and emotional health, economic regression, and all sorts that made it that way), we often find it hard to look at the silver lining of things. We often look at the world’s gray rather than its colorful areas. We felt like we were stretched rather than being honed.    We shouldn’t be living in the world that way.    Don’t spend so much time wanting for great things and burying yourself into thoughts that are not yet in your hands.  Start working with what you have and work hard to achieve more. Things might be ideal for us but it doesn’t mean it is meant for us, and it is what’s best for us. Work. Now! It will save you time.    Always face forward.  Memories are wonderful but it always holds us back. Use it to conquer hurdles and lessons to keep you up and moving. Meet new opportunities, new p...

I Tested Positive

Image
I TESTED POSITIVE By: Lovely Jane P. Matuguina     I was watching my favorite series in my room when I heard my mom knocking on my door. When I opened it, she was looking at me and said in a low tone, “The result of your Rapid Antibody Test earlier was positive”.   I was shocked. My hands were shaking. I did not expect to have that kind of result because I thought I was healthy. When I looked at my mom again, she was crying. She told me that everything will be okay and there is nothing to worry about.   On my first night in the isolation room, I was crying. I was afraid to think that I was alone again. Why of all the people in the world, this thing happened to me? Am I really that bad? I kept asking questions but there were no answers. It was horrible.   Many days had passed and I was used to being around. I suddenly thought about me a week ago, the person before I was isolated. I remembered how anxious I was and I felt useless all the time. I was not physically...

Am I Ready For Marriage?

Image
Am I Ready For Marriage? By: Charles Impit We all have that dream of marrying our dream partners for life. But, what are the things to consider before entering the lifetime  commitment  called "marriage". 1.) You must consider your expectations of marriage.Maybe, spending the rest of your life with the person you love is kinda the best thing a person can have yet you must know that marriage life isn't all about being in love with each other. Trials will come and will test you and your partner if you can hold on to the vow of your marriage. What are you expecting tho?   2.) Your partner's family. We all know that before we decide on marrying our partners, we knew our partners very well. But, what about his/her family? Do you know them very well? What are the culture and traditions they preserve and continue to do till now?...

Education: A Right or a Privilege?

Image
Education: A Right or a Privilege? By: Katerina R.   In the Philippines, education is a luxury not everyone could afford. It is something only those who are from a well-off household can sustain throughout the duration with little or no struggle. This is called a privilege. Again, not everyone can manage to pay for such non-essentials. Some are stuck on menial jobs just to satisfy their basic needs and send themselves to school. Even worse, they may even hardly see a glimpse of what the inside of a school is like. I have witnessed a few of my acquaintances take their studies for granted and honestly speaking, it haunts me for I have also seen the other side of the world. The part where the struggle is real, and comfortable living is a myth. Strolling around the city at night during weekends has become part of my weekly routine. It is when I liberate myself from all the stress I had accumulated throughout the week in school. I spend time watching the busy streets of General S...

Confession of a Victim

Image
Confession of a Victim By: Katerina R   “When I was eight, I used to play at home unattended. I took delight in pretending as a woman in her mid-twenties. Even at a very young age, I wanted to become someone who can live her life the way she wanted to. A strong-willed, brave individual was all I aspired to be.    But I grew up quite differently. I became meek, aloof, and most of the time, isolated. As I reminisce the child I once was, a sudden pang of abhorrence and disgust ensued from within.    When I was eight, my dreams eventually turned into corpse and my childhood was buried alongside.    When I was eight, I witnessed that the world has indeed its own cruel ways on how to take something precious from you. And it certainly took mine.   When I was eight, I began to feel conscious of what I wear. When I was eight, I avoided men and garnered a strong sense of hatred towards them.   All these because when I w...

Imagine Your Audience Naked

Image
Imagine Your Audience Naked By: Charles Brilliantes A single thing can decide how we live. I single thing can steal everything we want in life. I single thing can turn us into broken pieces. It hallucinates our vision in life and turns them into regret. So how can you move forward if there's a single thing that holds your back? Fear isn't something that we can just neglect. It robs us everything we wanted in life. Ask yourself, why you did not do the thing you want in life? Why you did not perform in your most awaited concert? Why can't you even say "I love you" to your parents? Why can't you ride a bike even if you love to? It is because you're afraid.  Being frightened of doing something isn't cowardness. Being afraid to do things you want is okay. Having fears in life is better. Remember that fearing something doesn't make you a coward. It's a warriors duty to conquer his fears because, without fear, you're just ignorant of what may come...
